When a crack is past repair

Some damage can't be filled with resin. Here's when replacement is the safe call.

  • Cracks longer than a dollar bill, or ones that keep growing
  • Damage right in the driver's line of sight
  • Chips that reach the edge of the glass or go through both layers
  • Several breaks close together

  • Old glass and adhesive cut out cleanly, pinch-weld prepped and primed
  • Fresh automotive urethane and a proper set, not a rushed press-in
  • New moldings and clips where the old ones don't come off intact

Questions

Windshield replacement FAQ

How long before I can drive after a windshield replacement?

The adhesive needs to cure to a safe strength before you drive. With modern fast-cure urethane that's often about an hour, though cold or damp weather can make it longer. We tell you the exact safe drive-away time for the product and conditions on the day.

Do you use OEM glass?

We fit glass that meets the original safety and optical standards for your vehicle, and we can source OEM glass when you want it or when the vehicle's camera system calls for it. We'll tell you what we're installing before we start.

Will a replacement affect my lane-keep or auto-braking?

If your car has a forward-facing camera on the windshield, it has to be recalibrated after the glass is replaced so those systems read the road correctly. We handle that recalibration as part of the job on vehicles that need it.

Can you replace my windshield at my house in Toms River?

Yes. Most replacements are done in your driveway or a work parking lot. We just need a reasonably level spot and shelter from heavy rain so the adhesive bonds properly.
